In the year 2000, a meteorite struck the South Pole, and melted Antarctica, flooding part of the world, and killing half it's population. They called this the Second Impact. The year is 2015, 15 years after the Second Impact. Mankind has rebuilt themselves, and is living prosperously, but the god-like creatures known as Angels have come and are threatening all of humanity. It is up to the advanced organization based in Tokyo-3 know as NERV to get rid of the Angels with their weapons, the Evangelions, and stop the destruction of mankind.
